Notice of Loss Deadlines

For planted crops, notice of damage must be submitted within 72 hours of discovering the damage or loss of production, but no later than 15 days after the end of the insurance period.

If no damage or production loss occurs and a revenue protection plan is in place, notice must be given within 45 days after the harvest price is released.

For prevented planting, notice must be submitted within 72 hours after the final planting date or when the producer determines planting will not be possible within the late planting period.

Planting Deadlines

  • Early Planting - Any fields planted before the early planting date remain insurable; however, they would not be eligible for replant coverage if needed.

  • Final Plant Date - The Final Plant Date is the deadline by which a crop must be planted to qualify for full insurance coverage, including the full production guarantee or amount of insurance per acre.

  • Late Planting Period - The Late Planting Period begins the day after the final planting date for the insured crop. Acreage planted during this time remains insurable but coverage is reduced. The length of the late planting period varies by crop and county, but generally is:

    • Corn: 20 days

    • Grain Sorghum: 25 days

    • Soybeans: 25 days

    • Wheat: 15 days

End of Insurance Period (Kansas)

  • December 10th - Row Crops

  • October 31st - Winter Wheat

The End of Insurance Period is the final date your crop insurance coverage remains in effect for that crop year. After this date, no additional losses are covered. If harvest/production is not completed by the applicable dates, appraisals must be done for any future loss purposes.
